50 CALIBER, 350 GR. JHP
Bullets, Handgun, Hunt Specialty, In-stock, Protect SpecialtyOur 350gr JHP #5350 was designed for use in the 500 Smith & Wesson with a cannelure placement ideally suited for this cartridge. It was designed with a large, deep hollow point to create expansion, for personal protection from vermin with ill intent, but it has since proven to be an accurate and tough bullet that hunters have come to rely on. They’ve been using this bullet successfully on a wide variety of animals from wild boar to big bears. Because it has such a wide meplat, it will also work safely from a tubular magazine if you happen to have one chambered in the 500. The faster velocity produced from a rifle length barrel will also give it the possibility of an expansion quality on pigs and whitetail sized game. This bullet was introduced in 2004. 50 CALIBER, 400 GRAIN JSP
Bullets, Handgun, Hunt Specialty, In-stock, Protect SpecialtyOur 400gr JSP #5400 has a cannelure placement ideally suited for use from a 500 Smith & Wesson cartridge. It has a tough lead core made with a heavy antimony and a thick jacket designed for deep penetration on the largest of animals. Large game like moose or brown bear won’t be any issue for this bullet, but it may be too tough to give a reliable expansion quality through smaller animals. Revolvers have been the primary firearm to load this bullet into but it is equally at home in rifles chambered in this and other cartridges also. The meplat is wide enough to work well from a lever action using a tubular magazine, and because of the higher muzzle velocity, it will give a better expansion quality also. On that subject, it is literally a half inch hole even with no expansion and will take game animals with authority. This bullet was introduced in 2004. Bullets, Defend Specialty, Handgun, Hunt Specialty, In-stock, Protect SpecialtyThere are many different 9mm cartridges in the world, but not all of them use bullets of .355 inch diameter. Be sure that the handgun cartridge for which you are loading uses .355 inch diameter bullets. The 115 grain #8110 bullets were originally introduced in the hollow cavity (JHC) design in 1970, but the design was changed in 1983 to the current hollow point (JHP) to enhance feeding in semi-auto pistols. The exterior of JHP bullets is completely covered by jacket, including the nose radius, for total reliability. Sierra's Power Jacket with skives enhances expansion in varmints at handgun velocities. Pure lead is used for the core to give good penetration with excellent expansion. The 115 grain #8110 bullets brings it's excellent qualities to the larger 9mm cartridges, such as the 9mm Luger (9x19 mm), 9x21 mm, 357 Sig, and 38 Super. Bullets, Defend Specialty, Handgun, Hunt Specialty, In-stock, Protect SpecialtyThese bullets are designed to meet even the most demanding shooter's needs. This bullet was introduced in 1988. They provide rapid, controlled expansion for defensive use or on game up to large varmints at ranges out to 100 yards. Their unique design also produces excellent accuracy for competitive events. The International Practical Shooting Confederation shooter needs only 1100 fps muzzle velocity with the 150 grain #8430 bullet to make "major." One also can use any of these bullets in an "old timer," the 38-40 Winchester (38 WCF), made popular in both single-action revolvers and rifles for Cowboy Shooting. .45 CALIBER 240 GR. JHC
Bullets, Handgun, Hunt Specialty, In-stock, Protect SpecialtyThe 240 grain #8820 Jacketed Hollow Cavity SportsMaster bullet was introduced in 1977 in response to requests for a "standard" weight bullet for the 45 Colt cartridge. The skived PowerJacket was added in 1984, making this bullet an excellent choice for 45 Colt vintage or modern handguns. Vintage models usually had a .454 inch diameter bore. However, modern Colt, Ruger, Smith & Wesson, Taurus, and most other handguns, including replicas of the Colt Single Action Army, will have barrels with a .451 inch bore. This bullet can be used in vintage 45 Colt handguns, but sizing cases may require special attention in older reloading dies. The 240 grain #8820 bullet has a cannelure for roll crimping, and it may be loaded into 45 Colt cartridges to be used in rifles with tubular magazines. This bullet is very effective for hunting because of the reliable expansion of the hollow cavity PowerJacket design and trademark Sierra accuracy. The reliable expansion characteristics of this bullet make it suitable for cartridges ranging from the 45 ACP up through moderate loads (up to 1400 fps) in the 454 Casull for either hunting or target competition.
