WESTERN WA BLACKTAIL
Travis Freeman shot this beautiful 4x4 blacktail in the late season in Western Washington state. The shot
was made offhand at 130 yards with his trusty Savage model 116 in .270 WIN. The 140 gr. Gameking
HPBT #1835 pushed by 55.5 grs. of RL-22 center punched a small hole in a rib just behind the right
shoulder, traveled through the vitals and came to a stop in another rib behind the left shoulder just under
the skin. A great shot, with perfect bullet performance, meant the 200lb+ blacktail ran less than 25 yards before piling up in the brush. No holes or blood were visible on the deer before field dressing
