    In rifles, this 100 grain Spitzer bullet #1540 has a heavy, double-tapered jacket to ensure adequate penetration with reliable expansion on medium game. This bullet may be the correct choice for hunting large varmints as well as deer or antelope. It also may be the bullet of choice in some rifle's because its flat base construction enhances accuracy in that particular rifle. In handguns, the 100 grain #1540 Spitzer bullet is too "hard" for use on field game due to the moderate velocities from all but the largest wildcat cartridges. However, this bullet will deliver to outstanding accuracy in long-range target competition and high momentum downrange for silhouette competition from handgun barrels with standard twist rates. The #1540 was introduced in 1956.

    For rifles in 7mm caliber, the 120 grain #1900 Spitzer bullet offers exceptional accuracy at high velocities for hunting large varmints, small game and medium game. When used at 7mm-08 or 7x57mm velocities, it is an exceptional performer on deer or antelope. When used in magnum cases with heavy loads, this superbly accurate bullet becomes an extremely effective long-range varmint bullet. In handguns, the 120 grain #1900 bullet would be a good choice for medium game in cartridges of this size.     The 140 grain #1910 Spitzer bullet has a heavy, double-tapered Sierra hunting jacket. It is superbly accurate, has excellent penetration and expansion on medium game, and is recommended for all 7mm cartridges. It is suggested for ranges out to 450 yards and is an excellent all-around hunting bullet. In handguns, the 140 grain #1910 bullet is generally considered too "hard" for TCU size cartridges, but this bullet could be a good choice for large game, such as elk, when used in a Remington XP-100 handgun in 7mm-08 Remington or a similar handgun and cartridge at short ranges. Good ballistic shape and traditional Sierra accuracy make this bullet an excellent choice for all target work. The pinpoint accuracy of this bullet makes it a good choice for both varmints and target competition.

    .45 CALIBER 300 GR. HP/FN

    Sierra offers a single flatnose bullet in this 45 caliber specifically for the 45-70 bore size. It may be used in rifles or handguns with a .458 inch bore, but it must not be used in handguns with .451 or .454 inch bore size.   Sierra introduced this bullet in 1973 -  the 100th year of the 45-70 cartridge. Now, decades later, this old cartridge is still growing in popularity and justifiably so. Adequate for any game in North America and offered in several modern firearms, this old cartridge is just plain fun. The bullet is unique in that it expands well at modest 1873 Springfield velocities or at the more powerful full charge velocities that can be loaded in stronger action types, such as the Ruger No. 1 and No. 3 and Marlin lever actions. Accuracy is excellent, and it feeds reliably through all types of magazines and actions. It can be used in the 458 Winchester Magnum cartridge, but muzzle velocities should not exceed 2500 fps. For handguns, this bullet was designed to expand reliably even at 1300 fps.  It is a perfect match for the T/C Contenders and similar handguns chambered for the 45-70 cartridge. Dependable expansion and excellent accuracy make this Pro-Hunter bullet a good choice for most hunting situations.
