A heavy bullet is necessary to provide the momentum required to knock these targets over. The 180 grain #8370 Full Profile Jacket bullet (FPJ) was introduced in 1984 specifically for the 357 Maximum cartridge and the Handgun Silhouette game. This high-pressure cartridge dictated a heavy bullet for maximum performance as well as superb accuracy. It is an extremely accurate bullet in the 357 Maximum as well as the 38 Special or 357 Magnum. The cannelure is located to give the proper overall length and crimp for all revolvers chambering these cartridges. These bullets are non-expanding types, but this 180 grain #8370 FPJ bullet has been used very successfully in the field for game such as bear and wild boar where deep penetration is required. Bullets, Hunt, RifleFor rifles, this bullet is designed specifically for the 375 Winchester cartridge. It has Sierra's unique PowerJacket and provides outstanding terminal performance. Sierra's Power Jacket ensures positive but even expansion in conjunction with good penetration on medium to heavy game. The cannelure location is correct for crimping, and the flat point was designed for use in tubular magazines. This bullet is also very effective in the 375 H&H Magnum, but velocity should be kept around 2200 fps to avoid over-expansion in game. For handguns, although the bullet is designed for rifles chambered for the 375 Winchester cartridge, it quickly found a home in the 375 Super Magnum revolver. Thompson Center currently chambers the T/C Contender for the 375 Winchester as well. Designed for the modest velocities generated by 375 Winchester rifles, this bullet performs very well in a handgun. The large amount of exposed lead at the tip and the PowerJacket skiving assure quick, even expansion at all suggested velocities and ranges, making this bullet the best choice in this caliber for field use on game. Bullets, Hunt Specialty, RifleThe 160 grain #1925 Hollow Point Boat Tail is a true magnum bullet, being somewhat "tougher" than the #1920 for deeper penetration. Contrary to a usual assumption, this hollow point bullet is not particularly fragile. The nose opening is closed slightly to help retard initial upset, but even expansion is assured by four skives cut into the jacket. Of course, there is no exposed lead to be deformed in the magazine. The result is an excellent bullet for many big game applications. The 160 grain #1925 bullet is far too "hard" for hunting with a handgun. This bullet can be used in all 7mm cartridges for silhouettes and target shooting. The #1925 was introduced in 1988.$55.99
