.30 Caliber/7.62mm (.308) 168 gr. Tipped MatchKing (TMK)
Sierra has enhanced a segment of the MatchKing line by adding the acetal resin tip, thus crowning the Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullet line. The major advantage of adding a tip to the bullet is the reduction of drag, producing a more favorable ballistic coefficient.
Due to the decades of dominance of our 168 grain MatchKing (#2200) in our .30 caliber bullet line, including it in the new Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullet line was a natural choice.
The 168 grain Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullet is an excellent choice for F-Class (F Open) matches, as well as 3-Gun and various other competitions. Due to the ballistic advantage that the tip provides, the 168 Tipped MatchKing (TMK) will stay supersonic at 1,000 yards at normal .308 Winchester velocities, unlike its untipped counterpart.
While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications. Although MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are commonly used for varmint hunting, their design will not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities in varmints compared to their lightly jacketed Hornet, Blitz or Varminter counterparts.
The #7768 was introduced in January 2015.

I am really pleased with how these bullets performed. My rifle was shooting one hole groups with the 168 SMK's. It took a lot of playing around with the seating depth (these do not like to be jumped) but was able to get the same results as the SMK's. Start about 5 thous off the lands. They will not fit in my AI magazine when doing this.

I am astounded by the accuracy that these bullets achieved in two of my .308 bolt actions. One rifle shot them 32% better on average than the # 9377 168 grain SMKs. The second rifle shot the TMKs 53% better, I tried them at 2.785 and 2.845 with one rifle with a short chamber and got great results. I also tried them at 2.800 and 2.900 with the second rifle and got even better results at the longer seating. The # 7168s are longer than the # 9377 SMKs but the TMK ogives are about the same distance from the bullet base as the SMKs.so they really need to be seated to an OAL that is about a 0.1 longer than the SMKs. Luckily, my magazines are deep enough to allow me to seat them out where they need to be.

Wow, i could not wait to get the new 168TMK in to load and shoot, here is what i used, 42 to 42.5 gr. RL-15, new LC M118LR 08 cases, LC primers, 168TMK bullets, seated to max length for the M14 mag, and max length for magpul P mags. in 308 for my LMT308, and my custom built M14 with Kreiger barrel. i cant get the bullets to shoot better than 2 min. of angle at 300 yd. i shot these loads in three high end rifles that shoot 1/2 to 3/4 min. when loaded to shoot from mag. length these bullets dont shoot, i am NRA classified High Master, earned with a service rifle so i dont think it is me or my loading technique.
