.22 Caliber (.224) 77 gr. Tipped MatchKing (TMK)
Sierra has enhanced a segment of the MatchKing line by adding the acetal resin tip, thus crowning the Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullet line. The major advantage of adding a tip to the bullet is the reduction of drag, producing a more favorable ballistic coefficient. Another benefit is reliable feeding in magazine fed firearms. The 77 grain Tipped MatchKing (TMK) allows seating to an OAL that permits cartridges to be loaded into M16/AR15 magazines.
While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications. Although MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are commonly used for varmint hunting, their design will not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities in varmints compared to their lightly jacketed Hornet, Blitz or Varminter counterparts.
The #7177 was introduced in January 2015.
This bullet requires a barrel twist rate of 1x8” or faster.

I have a 24" custom bbl on my RRA AR15 with a 1-8" twist. I ladder tested the 77tmk with Tac powder at 200yds and at 23.6gr I was shooting under 1/2".... I can hardly believe how accurate these bullets are! The ballistics look good out to about 800yds...

Shooting these out of my FN SCAR 16s with 25 grains of CFE 223. Groups of about .4" at 100 yards and less than 1 inch at 200. Shoots better than anything I have found to date.

The best bullet I have ever used in my custom built AR! I have taken this bullet to 800+ yards, getting group's of 1/2" or less consistently at that range. I have a few different loads I use with different powders. I have used this bullet on 250-300lb wild hogs with great success. One shot drops all day long! This bullet stabilizes just fine I my 16.5 1:8 barrel. I do have to get it moving pretty fast but that's the fun in hand loading..

I've used the standard Matchking in issued ammunition while I was in Iraq and have used that bullet extensively after. I know how accurate and effective it is. But when I purchased several boxes of the TMK from Midwayusa I was blown away today. Lights out !! I am achieving the MK262 speed with Tac powder at 23.5 gr. No pressure signs in my 18" 223 wylde barrel and I grouped at .389 with 5 shot at 100 yds today. Absolutely out shoots the OTM's in my ar. Thanks a bunch Sierra engineers you guys rock !!!!

Out shoots regular 77 SMK # 9377 by 16.3%, with N140, 19.7 % with Varget, and 45.5 % with Reloader 15 on group averages at 100 yards comparing over 30 measured groups of each bullet. TMks are my go to bullet for my 1L8 twist AR.
