.35 Caliber (.358) 225 gr. SBT

For rifles, when Remington standardized the popular .35 Whelen wildcat cartridge, Sierra designed the 225 grain #2850 Spitzer Boat Tail bullet for the 35 Whelen and similar cartridges. This bullet has a heavy, double-tapered jacket drawn to very tight tolerances and a special alloy core for deep penetration and good expansion on heavy game. It also has the classic Sierra SBT shape for exceptional ballistic efficiency among 35 caliber bullets. This bullet delivers incredible accuracy and retains velocity and energy exceptionally well downrange. The flat trajectory extends the useful range of all appropriate 35 caliber cartridges and delivers smashing power even at long range. Although not suited for the 35 Remington cartridge, it is well matched to the more potent 358 Winchester and 350 Remington Magnum cartridges, as well as the 35 Whelen. In any of these cartridges, it is appropriate for all North American big game.

In handguns, while the 225 grain #2850 Spitzer Boat Tail GameKing bullet is not recommended for hunting due to its extreme toughness, it is still useful to the handgunner. Those hearty silhouette shooters who can't get away from a favorite 357 Herrett or 35 Remington have a streamlined, high ballistic coefficient, low crosswind sensitivity bullet to use at 200 meters. This bullet can be fired at 1700 fps from a T/C Contender with a 10 inch barrel in 357 Herrett or 35 Remington, and it won't leave a ram standing. Also, it is capable of half minute-of-angle accuracy.

VERY accurate in my whelen. Got my elk at 274 yds. I was going for a breakdown shot . The 225 gr went through both shoulders and stopped about 1 inch from exiting with 85% retention . Love em.

I'm still using this bullet almost exclusively in my .35 Whelen. Velocity at 10ft from the muzzle is about 2730 fps average from my Remington 700 w/24" barrel. At altitudes above 8,000ft, it will shoot as flat as a 180gr. Sierra boat tail .308 bullet at the same velocity at sea level. I still haven't had a jacket separation with this bullet at any distance. I do wish that you would make the same .358 cal. bullet in a 235gr or 240gr weight. It could easily and safely be pushed to around 2650fps and would have a significantly higher BC. That would make it ideal for moose and bear. However, the bullet is excellent for anything up to large bull elk just as it is, and stabilizes remarkably well in the industry standard 1 in 16 inch barrel.

loaded these in 358win 2400fps excellent accuracy out of 1in 14 twist shilen barrel. gave three stars due to core separation on a close shot[10yrds]whitetail. this is the only time I recovered a jacket the rest all pass through. this only bothers me cause I would like to use on larger game in future. next availability cant find any where other than manufacturer. I switched to hornady cheaper and available.

I've used this bullet for about 8 years, and it is the most accurate bullet I've found in my .35 Whelen. It shoots less than .7" groups at 100yds consistently, and leaves exit wounds in Whitetails about the size of a coke can bottom. I've killed deer at 400yds with it and still had pass throughs.

Sub MOA out to 300 yds with scoped Browning BLR. Kills deer better than 7 mm Rem or 270 Win. Please make more!

I use this bullet in 358 Winchester with a Browning BLR. Accuracy is consistently under 1.5 MOA which is superb for this rifle. No need for improvement. More bullets please.

Get 1 in groups from 35 Whelen. Two shots, 2 white bucks. Each at 100 - 125 yd. DRT with pass throughs. Probably good for elk too, but too light for Africa. Use 250 gr or higher there.

The 225gr Game King bullet in .358 performed as well as the more expensive premium bullets do. Every one I've retrieved from game has shown perfect deformation and weight retention when used in my .35 Whelan.

I have used this bullet in the 358 Winchester and the 358 Hoosier. It has proven to be very accurate and deadly on deer. The only problem I am having with them is that I can't find any to buy. Sierra do a run on 358 bullets. Deer season is coming up. I need bullets.

This bullet is the best bullet in the .35 Whelen! I have shot 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards with it. You can't get much better than that with an off the shelf rifle. You did a great job designing this one!
