8 mm (.323) 220 gr. SBT

The same comment made earlier for the Pro-Hunter bullets concerning the 8mm bore sizes applies here. Be very sure your rifle is bored for bullets of .323 inch diameter. Designed and constructed specifically for the 8mm Remington Magnum, this sleek 220 grain #2420 Spitzer Boat Tail bullet is an outstanding choice for the largest game on the North American continent and for African plains game. This bullet has an extremely heavy, double-tapered jacket for deep, smashing penetration. Sierra's classic SBT shape ensures a flat trajectory, minimum sensitivity to crosswinds and vertical winds, and exceptional accura- cy. It will prove to be too "hard" at 8x57mm velocities, and is not recommend- ed for use in any cartridge producing less than magnum-level velocities

Excellent bullet weight for my 8x57JS. I can shoot any animal in a weight class of 280-400kg, including the toughest of them all, Blue Wildebeest and Eland.

My dad purchased three of these 8mm Remington magnum guns for me and my two brothers when I was 14 years old I am 57 years old now. I started reloading when I was 15 and selected the Sierra Gambling 220 gr. SBT. As our bullet of choice. This bullet has been the most outstanding hunting bullet for taking Deer and Elk and I know people say why use it on deer it will destroy the meat but we always shoot behind the front shoulder and it drops them so fast they have never taken more than a step. Elk is the same. My farthest shot on a Elk was 800 yards from one mountain side to another the Sierra GameKing hit him behind the front shoulder and he took two steps and went down. These are one shot kill bullets.

I have two 8MM Mags and have had them since they first came out. I have only shot two factory loaded boxes of shells when I first bought these rifles. Ever since, I have reloaded and only with the 220 gr game king bullet. Excellent, consistent accuracy and outstanding bullet performance on every animal taken. Amazing bullet retention and constant predictable mushrooming in every successful bullet recovery. It's too bad this caliber has lost it's following of the early days. I think one very important reason is this guns surprising ability to kick like a mule making it an unpleasant round to shoot for many people. Also due to the similar ballistics of the well established .338 and that of the .340 Weatherby Mag. The 8 is simply an outstanding, very powerful caliber when loaded with this 220 gr bullet! I wish there were an option to load this 220 in a ballistic tip style as well. Please continue manufacturing this outstanding bullet style and weight.

I purchased my Rem 8mm in the early 80's and started reloading right away. I use the 220 gr. Game King exclusively and have had excellent results on Elk! A bit overkill for deer sized game however. I found that my load of 3000 fps is both safe and accurate producing tight groups. A fantastic round unfortunately overlooked by many hunters. Would love to find a gunsmith to custom build me an 8mm Mag system.

For loads in the Remington 8mm mag, this is the ONLY bullet to use for mid-large sized game. Shoots nice tight groups consistantly and has great range. Nothing but Sierra for this hunter.
