.30 Caliber/7.62mm (.308) 135 gr. HPBT MatchKing

Sierra MatchKing BulletsThe 30 caliber 135 grain Hollow Point Boat Tail was designed to fill the need for a lighter-weight / low recoil 30 caliber bullet for smaller capacity cartridges.  This bullet is a popular choice for across the course, handgun silhouette, and 100-200 yard benchrest shooters.

While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications.  Although MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are commonly used for varmint hunting, their design will not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities in varmints compared to their lightly jacketed Hornet, Blitz or Varminter counterparts.

Loaded the 135 MK up for my son’s Rem 700 308 with 24” Shaw barrel. Win. Brass, WLR primers, 45 gr H335. Gave 3010fps. I shot a 5 rnd. group 3” with 4 in 1.75” at 3oo yds. Had a cross wind of 10-15 mph. Most luck but rifle and Sierra MK Bullets great! Wait till tweak a little. Worse part I load 308”s for my sons I don’t even own a .308. Maybe I need to get one!

Loaded somewhat light for recoil reduction in an NM M1A, these were X-ring capable at 300 yards.

A good load in 30-06 is to work up to around 56 grains of VARGET(AR 2208). Chronographs at 3225 in my Vanguard with 24'' barrell and shoots flat and accurate!!

I expect it to work as well as the other Sierra .30 caliber bullets I have used. That's why I gave it 5 stars. I'm Just loading them and if they don't perform as expected I will change my rating. all of the .30 caliber I use are fired from an AAC 300 Blackout.
