6.5 mm/.264 Caliber (.264) 142 gr. HPBT MatchKing
The 6.5mm/.264 inch bore has recently enjoyed a resurgence of interest. Several rifle manufacturers currently produce 6.5x55mm sporters, exposing a new generation of shooters to this famous old Scandinavian service and hunting cartridge. Competitive HighPower and Silhouette shooters have also shown great interest in the 6.5mm bore size.
The 142 grain #1742 bullet has a longer ogive radius than the 140 grain #1740 bullet and thus a higher ballistic coefficient with less sensitivity to crosswinds.
While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications. Although MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are commonly used for varmint hunting, their design will not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities in varmints compared to their lightly jacketed Hornet, Blitz or Varminter counterparts.
This bullet requires a barrel twist rate of 1x8” or faster.

Most fun grouping was 40cm/15.7" at 1130meters/1236 yards, 6 shots. And that was on target as well. I cannot complain (6.5x55, 1-8").

Hands down my preferred choice of bullet for my 26" .260 Remington. 43.3gr H4350, COAL of 2.815", CCI #34 primer and Lapua brass (or for plinking, resized/neck-turned/annealed Perfecta brass). Absolute winning recipe for my rifle. Repeatedly under .8", 5-shot groups. And I know I'm the weak link, the rifle is capable of so much more.

I have shot four diameter bullets of different weights made in Sierra MatchKings which I thought crucial in making me a High Master in completion. I have managed to shoot several "cleans" in my competition shooting and feel it was only because of the tightly controlled quality of Sierra bullets. I only shoot Sierras because they are consistently the best
