.30 Caliber/7.62mm (.308) 165 gr. HPBT

For rifles in 30 caliber, this 165 grain #2140 Hollow Point Boat Tail bullet, which is patterned after the world-famous 168 grain MatchKing bullet, was designed for shooters who desire a hunting version of that famous MatchKing. It is slightly "harder" than its 165 grain Spitzer Boat Tail counterpart and will give superior penetration and good expansion on medium game with excellent accuracy. This is a good medium-weight bullet choice for shooters of 30 caliber magnum rifles who desire a bullet that will not deform at the point.

For handguns chambering 30 caliber cartridges, this 165 grain #2140 bullet is "hard" and will expand in medium to large game only when driven at a muzzle velocity of 2500 fps or more, which is achievable in the 308 Winchester cartridge in the Remington XP-100 handgun or a similar combination. It can, of course, be used for handgun silhouettes or other target purposes.

I bought 3 boxes of 165 grn HPBT by accident; thought I was buying my regular 165 grn BT Spitzer. I was upset because they were purchased while I was visiting out of state. Not being able to return them and being frustrated, I decided to load 20 for my .308 Winchester with the same powder (IMR-4064) and charge (43.5) as the Spitzer. I couldn't believe what I saw; without even working up the load the groups were more impressive than the Spitzer. As for terminal performance, on the last day of New Mexico's 2017 second rifle season I shot a buck at just over 350 yards. The buck arched it's back, tumbled to the exiting side of the bullet, moved it's hind legs a little and became motionless approximately 10 seconds later. The entry wound looked like 30 caliber hole; the bullet past through, and the exit wound was about the size of a golf ball. Excellent accuracy and terminal performance, I am sold even if by accident!

Shot lots of Gemsbuck, Zebra and Kudu with the 165gr, It is a harder bullet and does not disintegrate and never lost a buck with it. Won't use anything else on bigger game.

Shot a 7 point buck at 30 yards with my 308, the bullet performed as advertised. These bullets shoot well out of my gun loaded with 45 grains of IMR 4064. The buck didn't go anywhere, I don't know what else you'd need to hunt with. It left an exit hole the size of an oil filter.

Accuracy was as expected 5 rounds in the same hole useing a 308 savage fcp-sr 24" barrel runing the bullets .015" off the lands at 2725 useing accurate 2520 powder the performance was great on the two white tails I shot over thanksgiving break, both of the bucks dropped where they stood, the only reason it got 4 stars instead of 5 is because both bullets completely shed the jacket all of the way from the lead core the jacket expansion was great though. Both shots were soft tissue and both shots were between145-190 yards this is now my go to hunting round for there ability to do the job and do it well I would highly recommend giveing them a shot

My father and I have reloaded this round in 30-06 for years (since 1984) and it has proved to be very accurate. It's the only thing I'll take into the field deer hunting. A well placed shot and you won't have to track your deer far if at all. I've never seen it cause excessive damage to the meat if you make a good shot. You can't go wrong with this if you're shooting under 500-600 yds.

I reload for my Ruger Mark II 30-06. This bullet is the most accurate hunting bullet I've found in 30 years of hunting. I will be staying with it for all medium game hunting, and am shooting small groups at 300 yards. That gives me great confidence when in the field. Will also try it for elk, based on the overall ratings I have read, and see how it performs.

Fantastic bullet. Devastating terminal performance. Loaded these up for .30-06 to try when my brother in law drew a junior doe tag in SoCal. The "fever" got him, and he made what would ordinarily be a terrible shot... in the hip. But because of the performance of this bullet, it tore the femoral artery and completely shattered the hip. She dropped right there and was expired in about 10 seconds. A little meat lost due to shot placement but because of a devastating bullet, no tracking!

I shoot this bullet from a .30-06 Husqvarna at around 2700 fps. Shoots 1" groups day-in, day-out at the range under all conditions. Took it to Namibia last month for plains game. Shot gemsbok, wildebeest, kudu and impala (all shots <100 yds). The bullet performed brilliantly. One shot kills on every animal, BUT this bullet explodes within the chest cavity. There were no exit wounds and we recovered only a few fragments of copper jacket from the wildebeest. Need very good shot placement, because there was no blood trail - all animals dropped within 50 yds of being hit - these are large tough animals. David.

Most accurate , devastating bullets for mule deer I've ever usecd ... 1/2 inch groups are normal. - Maybe I left out too much information... 30/06 - Remington cases - Remington 9 1/2 primers - IMR 4350 powder - T/C Venture rifle. 1/2 inch groups are 10 rounds at 100 yds - 200 yard groups open up to 3/4 inch.

For 30-06 on deer, don't bother with any other bullet. These bullets really perform. Superb terminal ballistics and accuracy. When my hunting friends witnessed my results, they ALL switched to this bullet and copied my load. No more trailing wounded deer ever again.

In the 30/06 they're awesome, knock a buck to the forest floor right where they stand. Shoot 1" -5 shot groups no problem, out of a clean barrel. They always exit and they don't over expand--exits are dime to nickel size--they never move.

Ruger American rifle, Lapua brass, 47.0 grains Vihtavuori N150 powder, 2780fps and three bullets through the same hole on paper at 100 metres. Who could ask for more! Great bullets on game too, clean kills for me every time so far.

This bullet is wickedly accuate and deadly on Whitetails. Accuracy and effectiveness rivals the 165 gr. SP GameKing, but the hollow point takes knock-down power to the next level! I use this bullet in a Remington Model 7 (308 Winchester) with IMR 4064 powder. I'll never use anything else.

Excellent accuracy, shot the smallest group ever with these bullets. I don't expect to be changing loads for my A Bolt as long as these are being made.

One of my favorite bullets; tougher than its GK brethern, and flies like a laser. Great for whitetail -- especially closer shots and/or at magnum velocities. Not quite the explosive expansion seen with the softer bullets, but plenty to drop them where they stand. The non-deforming tip is a bonus.
