.30 Caliber/7.62mm (.308) 150 gr. SBT

For rifles in 30 caliber, this bullet was designed for medium- to long-range hunting with cartridges having medium to large case capacities for powder. These bullets often display match grade accuracy from accurate hunting rifles. The famous Sierra Spitzer Boat Tail shape assures flat trajectory, excellent resistance to crosswinds and vertical winds, and maximum energy delivery to the target. Good penetration and expansion are characteristic of these bullets even at the reduced impact velocities at long range. With the weight range available, at least one of these bullets will prove ideal for almost any 30 caliber cartridge. The 150 grain #2125 bullet is best suited to medium game at all velocity levels.

In handguns chambering 30 caliber cartridges, prior to the introduction of the Remington Model XP-100 (and similar handgun designs) utilizing larger rifle cartridges, the usefulness of these bullets was limited. Now, these bullets have a very definite niche as superbly accurate hunting bullets. Previously considered "too hard" for expansion, they perform well at the 2500 fps muzzle velocities achievable in the 308 Winchester and larger cartridges. Ease of loading and precise concentricity contributes to their excellent accuracy. Sierra's Spitzer Boat Tail design assures flat trajectory and high energy delivery downrange with low sensitivity to crosswinds and vertical winds. These bullets are suitable for varmints through large game at all ranges a prudent handgunner would normally attempt.

This is the bullet for my 30-06 for doing all my hunting of big game. For more than 20 years it has performed fantastically. It is devastating to internal organs and with the few bullets I have recovered they have remained intact. My longest shot was on a Himalyan tahr ca. 450 yards. Perfect expansion and retention after penetrating bone and muscle. Superb accuracy with 0.5" groups at 100 yards.

I shot a Roe Deer Buck in Scotland with this bullet at 220 yards and it went down as it hit, it does the job it is designed to do.

This bullet is the first bullet I try in a new or new-to-me ,30cal rifle. And it is usually the last one I need to try unless I am loading for something larger than deer. In most hunting rifles it is as accurate as the MK bullet and usually hits to the same POI under 300yds. .300Sav, .308, .30-06, .300mag, .300WSM, with a 1/10 or 1/12 twist barrel it's all the deer medicine a hunter needs.

Use this exclusively in my 30/06 for hunting loads for 3 different rifles. They have never failed to expand, I have had nothing but great results on game. They run MOA and under in all 3 of my rifles, 1 will even run aout 1/2 MOA it will shoot a 10 shot 2" group at 400 yards when I have a good day.

Fantastic performance on whitetail deer, and runs at or under MOA in my hunting rifles with most powders I've used. Explosive expansion, especially with magnum velocities and/or close-range shots. I've taken many deer with this bullet -- never fails. I've used it in .308, .30-06, and .300 WSM. With a magnum cartridge, I would recommend stepping up to the 165 gr at the very least, unless one is shooting at true long-range.
