.30 Caliber/7.62mm (.308) 165 gr. SBT

For rifles in 30 caliber, these bullets are designed for medium- to long-range hunting with cartridges having medium to large case capacities for powder. These bullets often display match grade accuracy from accurate hunting rifles. The famous Sierra Spitzer Boat Tail shape assures flat trajectory, excellent resistance to crosswinds and vertical winds, and maximum energy delivery to the target. Good penetration and expansion are characteristic of these bullets even at the reduced impact velocities at long range. With the weight range available, at least one of these bullets will prove ideal for almost any 30 caliber cartridge. The 165 grain #2145 bullet is best suited to medium game at all velocity levels, and game the size of elk could be taken with confidence providing velocity doesn't exceed 3000 fps and the range is limited to about 300 yards.

In handguns chambering 30 caliber cartridges, prior to the introduction of the Remington Model XP-100 (and similar handgun designs) utilizing larger rifle cartridges, the usefulness of these bullets was limited. Now, these bullets have a very definite niche as superbly accurate hunting bullets. Previously considered "too hard" for expansion, they perform well at the 2500 fps muzzle velocities achievable in the 308 Winchester and larger cartridges. Ease of loading and precise concentricity contributes to their excellent accuracy. Sierra's Spitzer Boat Tail design assures flat trajectory and high energy delivery downrange with low sensitivity to crosswinds and vertical winds. These bullets are suitable for varmints through large game at all ranges a prudent handgunner would normally attempt.

I started using this bullet in the mid 70's. I used it in my Remington 700 BDL in 30 06. It was great bullet then and it still is now. Functions flawlessly with great terminal velocity. Most of my kills have been one shot. Thanks Sierra.

I recently tried Australian Outback factory ammo loaded with this bullet. With my Steyr Scout in .308, accuracy is under MOA at the range, So far with hunting, 5 shots, 5 kills...100+kg (220+lb) boar, and 4 red deer, up to 90kg (200lb). Every bullet exited, with good expansion. I am happy and will stay with this bullet in this weight, it works well with my rifle and drops the game I hunt.

I've been using a lot of different bullets but this one is my personal favorite to hunt in Luxembourg. It delivery outstanding precision (3rds group 1/4in in my Steyr Pro Hunter 30-06 with regular barrel!) and works excellent on game without much meat damage. Shot a Wildboar last week weighting about 180lbs and it went down on his track, hitting the right shoulder and exiting on the left shoulder. Speed is 2850f/s at Muzzle.

Always has been the best weight for .30 cal hunting. Not too much recoil, excellent ballistics and accuracy, and outstanding terminal performance. I've shot these for almost 40 years, and would just switch over from my 168 International BoatTail HP to the hunting bullet, and go shoot deer.

Took 2 whitetails this year using these bullets out of my Swiss K31. Doe at 100 yards dropped on the spot and a buck at 80 yards ran 30 yards and went down. Both heart shots. Exit wounds were both between 1" and 1 1/2" wide. Very accurate too.

I've been using this bullet since 1979 in a 30-06 load @ 2850 fps, and it has always given me an avg 1.5 inch or less 200yd group. Countless dozens of Whitetails and other game and varmits have fallen to this load, and for 35 yeas, I have never recovered a bullet inside game. On lung shots, it exits with a half to silver dollar size hole, but on angle shots, it still penetrates very deep with devastating internal damage. While I use a 300RUM and a heavier bullet for elk, this load is in my backup rifle, and I have complete confidence in its performance with shots kept 400 yds and under.

This is without question the most dramatic wounding bullet I have ever used and mind you I have used A LOT. Measured an 9.5" exit wound on a small southern whitetail shot at 40 yards with a rather stout 30-06 load (yes I have pics). The smallest exit wound was to date was the size of my fist. Needless to say they deliver DRT performance with boring regularity. While I highly recommend these I will say to reduce meat damage you might want to try and keep your impact speeds under 2800fps because they get rather messy beyond that.

This bullet delivers very good accuracy. My first shots with these, gave me a group of .46 at 100 yards. They were loaded with 42 grains of Varget. I still have room for more powder to tighten the groups. If the shooter does his part these bullets will always deliver!!

Excellent accuracy! 44.0gr of Varget behind it in my .308Win Savage 10FP yields 0.27" groups at 100yds. Terminal ballistics are excellent as well. I recently dumped a nice buck in very short order, he stumbled a few steps and dropped. The Game King took out ribs on both sides and pulverized the lungs and top of the heart, I simply poured out the contents of the chest cavity when I cleaned him. That's everything I expect of a hunting bullet and the Game King delivers.

I have a picky 308 that would shoot nothing else till I tried these with Varget. This picky 308 is now a half MOA all day long rifle from 100-400yds. This bullet is what made me switch all my bullets to Sierra and it improved all of their accuracy.
