.30 Caliber/7.62mm (.308) 155 gr. HPBT PALMA® MatchKing

Sierra MatchKing BulletsSierra created the 30 caliber 155 grain HPBT PALMA® to fill the long-range demands of the PALMA® and other long range shooters. The #2156 PALMA® bullet has a longer, more streamlined 9 caliber ogive, slightly longer OAL and a pointed meplat, which is a first for Sierra Bullets.

While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications.  Although MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are commonly used for varmint hunting, their design will not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities in varmints compared to their lightly jacketed Hornet, Blitz or Varminter counterparts.

The first few rounds fired were a disappointment. I had been using 150 gr, MKs and they shot great. I called the Sierra help line and asked about it. They told me that this is a newer bullet and to start at the COAL length in the manual and then increase by .010 at a time. Following their advice, I found the correct length and the accuracy is great. I use them over BLC2 and have hit at 600 yds. I have not had a spotter so I am waiting to try them out to 1000 yds. Great bullet

Unbelievable. I was actually looking for the 168gr Matchking for a couple of K31 Swiss rifles, and couldn't find them anywhere - So "settled" for the 155 gr Palma. 1/2" 5 shot groups at 100 m with the "scoped" rifle, and 1" 5 shot groups with open sights... PRVI brass, Fed 210 primer and 42 gr IMR4064. Sierra bullet ALWAYS are most accurate in every rifle I reload for.
