7 mm/.284 Caliber (.284) 140 gr. SBT

For rifles chambered in 7mm cartridges, this bullet has the heavy, double-tapered Sierra jacket for hunting.. The #1905 bullet is recommended for all 7mm cartridges. It is an excellent choice as a lighter bullet in any of the 7mm magnum cartridges for use at medium to long ranges.

In handguns, the 140 grain #1905 is considered too "tough" for smaller cartridges, such as the 7mm TCU and 7mm BR. However, this bullet is seeing much use in the Remington XP-100 chambered for the 7mm-08 Remington or in similar cartridge/handgun combinations for both target shooting and hunting applications. This bullet is a good choice when driven at 2500 fps or more for medium or large game at typical handgun ranges. Using this bullet for hunting is limited to muzzle velocities achievable with only a select few cartridge and handgun combinations, but no such restrictions apply to target use. This bullet can be used in all 7mm cartridges for target shooting.

Superb accuracy at 2680 fps from my 7x57 1895 Mauser...29" German made barrel... with a moderate load of H-4831. Yes, a moderate 48 grain load of H-4831 pushes these faster than Hornady Custom factory ammo actually pushed their similar 139 grain plastic tip lead core boat tail bullet. Hornady CUSTOM 7x57 Mauser load may now be called 275 Rigby.... Hornady claimed 2680 fps 'on the box' .. I actually clocked with chronograph two Hornady shots at 2668 and 2628 fps... Hornady ? ...40 fps spread...WOW ! ...and Hornady fell short of velocity claims even in a 29" barrel too... Yep, surely did. Sierra "moderate pressure" handloads actually delivered the speed Hornady claimed to....with a "moderate" load o 48 grains of H-4831 and with superb accuracy. I could push this Sierra bullet faster and still be within pressure limits... but, with this superb accuracy...why ? I plan to get another 30 Years out of this built in Germany in 1895 rifle and pass it on to the next generation in still useful condition. I would definitely recommend this 140 grain 7mm SBT #1905 bullet for 7mmx57 Mauser. And, H-4831 is a good powder to push these with.

These are surpisingly hard bullets. I loaded them in a 7-08 and shot 2 whitetails . One at 100 and one at 2. Both behind the shoulder rib shots. 3/.4 inch exit holes and they both ran 50 yards. A max charge of big game powder bot not chronographed. I would guess 2900. Maybe more knockdown with more speed or shoulder shots.

I have yet to use this bullet on any game but it printed a five shot group at 200 yds., that measured 1 11/16". I'm pretty happy with that. I am still in the process of working up these 7mm/08 loads.

I have had excellent success with the 7mm 140 gr 1905. I have a 280 that shoots under 1/2 inch at 100 yards. I have taken Deer, Bear, Moose and the bullet performed fantastically. I could not have asked for better. I have shot game from 30 yards to 400. I have tremendous confidence with this gun and load. I don't know how I could ask for more.

I was a little worried about the penetration of these bullets after reading a rather critical review of them by an "expert" but since they were the ONLY bullet my Browning would group well with I decided to put them to the test to see if they would hold up and penetrate. Mind you I am pushing them 2953fps in my 7mm-08 so they are hitting hard and fast, 1st time out I lucked up and had the ideal torture test scenario for them, a raking shot on a boar hog, at crazy close range (5 yards not kidding) hit him in the front shoulder, took out the vitals and the bullet exited out the right ham, that is near full body penetration with obvious expansion. Needless to say I am not worried about their penetration anymore.

Best bullets on the market. Without Sierra I would never be able to hit a target. They are more precious than gold. No matter how much they cost I will always buy, even If I have to sell my house or my children. God bless Sierra, the bullet smiths of all time.

I shoot this bullet out of my custom model 700 in 7x57 and it is amazing. I have taken several whitetails over 400 yards with this bullet and rifle the last a mature 5x4 at 500 with one shot and he ran only 25 yards before piling up. I would especially recommend these bullets for folks shooting similar cartridges. I should add I only take these shots under perfect conditions from a tower with a perfect rest, little to no wind and very still crosshairs.

Just took a big 8 point, almost 10 point, Whitetail with this bullet last weekend. One shot kill, with only about a 25 yard run. I'm very happy with their performance. Thanks Sierra for an awesome bullet!

THE 280 Remington bullet for whitetail deer. Shoots under 1/2" out of my rifle. Truckload of deer harvested with it. I have not tried another bullet in my rifle since the first .44" group was fired from it. Devastating to deer. 35 yds - 350 yds.
