    .22 Cal / 5.56mm 69 Gr. HPBT MatchKing

    , , ,
Designed for Service Rifle competition in the M16A2/AR-15A2, our 22 caliber bullets have set an incredible number of new national records. While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications. Although MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are commonly used for varmint hunting, their design will not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities in varmints compared to their lightly jacketed Hornet, Blitz or Varminter counterparts. The #1380 was introduced in 1984. This bullet requires a barrel twist rate of 1x10” or faster.

.22 Cal 95 Gr. HPBT MatchKing

    , , , ,
Shooters around the world will appreciate the accuracy and extreme long range performance of the 22 caliber 95 grain HPBT (#1396). A sleek 27 caliber elongated ogive and a final meplat reducing operation (pointing) provide an increased ballistic coefficient for optimal wind resistance and velocity retention. To ensure precise bullet to bore alignment, a unique bearing surface to ogive junction uses the same 1.5 degree angle commonly found in many match rifle chamber throats. While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications. Although MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are commonly used for varmint hunting, their design will not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities in varmints compared to their lightly jacketed Hornet, Blitz or Varminter counterparts. .22 Cal 60 Gr. TMK

    , , , ,
Sierra has enhanced a segment of the MatchKing line by adding the acetal resin tip, thus crowning the Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullet line. The major advantage of adding a tip to the bullet is the reduction of drag, producing a more favorable ballistic coefficient. Another benefit is reliable feeding in magazine fed firearms. The introduction of the 60 Gr. TMK helped to fill a gap in the 22 caliber Match bullet offering. While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications. Although MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are commonly used for varmint hunting, their design will not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities in varmints compared to their lightly jacketed Hornet, Blitz or Varminter counterparts. .22 Cal 90 Gr. HPBT MatchKing

    , , ,
The 22 caliber 90 grain Hollow Point Boat Tail was created in response to the increasing demands of Long Range shooters. With the success of the AR-15/M16 rifles in Long Range competition, the need was felt to maximize the ballistic potential of these rifles. The 90 grain MatchKing® is the final product of a series of tests, covering both accuracy and exterior ballistics, to arrive at the best possible bullet for the Long Range competitor. Designed specifically for the .223 Remington / 5.56x45mm cartridge, the 90 MatchKing® is at equally at home in both Match and Service Rifles. Due to the inherent requirements for a bullet of this type, the 90 grain MatchKing® is intended for single loading, and is not intended to be fed from a magazine. Sierra recommends a 6.5” twist barrel for the #9290 22 cal 90 gr HPBT bullet when pushed at muzzle velocities lower than 2650 fps. In cartridges like the Valkyrie with muzzle velocities above 2650 fps, a 1x7” twist barrel will stabilize the bullet correctly.

    .30 Cal / 7.62mm 175 Gr. HPBT MatchKing

MatchKings® are the pride of the Sierra bullet family, unmatched worldwide and truly world class in all respects. Competitive shooters have relied on the consistent accuracy of Sierra's MatchKings® for decades, resulting in a history of state, national and world records that is the envy of our competitors. In 1995, Sierra worked with military ordnance experts to produce a superior long-range bullet for the M21, M24 and M40A1 sniper systems. The result was the new 175 grain #2275 MatchKing® bullet. This bullet has also generated considerable interest among competitive Service Rifle match shooters. A higher ballistic coefficient compared to the 168 grain bullet (#2200) allows it to remain supersonic at 1000 yards when fired from 308/7.62mm caliber Service Rifles. Sierra MatchKing® bullets have set the standards worldwide for consistent accuracy in handguns as well as rifles. , , ,
Sierra has enhanced a segment of the MatchKing line by adding the acetal resin tip, thus crowning the Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullet line. The major advantage of adding a tip to the bullet is the reduction of drag, producing a more favorable ballistic coefficient. Due to the decades of dominance of our 168 grain MatchKing (#2200) in our .30 caliber bullet line, including it in the new Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullet line was a natural choice. The 168 grain Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullet is an excellent choice for F-Class (F Open) matches, as well as 3-Gun and various other competitions. Due to the ballistic advantage that the tip provides, the 168 Tipped MatchKing (TMK) will stay supersonic at 1,000 yards at normal .308 Winchester velocities, unlike its untipped counterpart. The major advantage of adding a tip to the bullet is the reduction of drag, producing a more favorable ballistic coefficient. For rifles, this bullet is designed for explosive expansion in varmints and small game and with accuracy characteristic of the MatchKing bullets. The nose tips of the bullets are made of a proprietary acetyl resin compound, and the sharp tips improve the ballistic coefficient over the traditional flat-base Spitzer bullet design. This bullet has a boat tail to further increase ballistic coefficient compared to a flat-base design in these bullet weights. All the BlitzKing bullets in 22 caliber are designed to be fired at muzzle velocities up to 4400 fps. For handguns, these BlitzKing bullets are especially effective in varmints and small game for the full range of centerfire cartridges in 22 caliber. They have outstanding accuracy, a flat trajectory and superb expansion in small animals even with the smaller-capacity cartridges. This bullet is recommended for moderate-capacity cartridges, such as the 222 Remington and the 223 Remington in handguns. The #1450 was introduced in 1999.

This bullet has the famous MatchKing® qualities of precise concentricity and uniformity, and it delivers incredible accuracy. This bullet is an excellent choice for the NRA half-size silhouettes. The #2315 was introduced in 1996.

This 8mm MatchKing® was added to Sierra's line in 2002. It provides European shooters with a world-class target bullet for this traditional and popular European caliber, and it fills a void for American shooters who favor cartridges in this caliber, such as the 8mm Remington Magnum and 8 x 57mm. While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications. .20 Cal 39 Gr. BlitzKing

    , ,
For rifles, this bullet is designed for explosive expansion in varmints and small game and with accuracy characteristic of the MatchKing bullets. The nose tip of this bullet is made of a proprietary acetyl resin compound, and the sharp shape will improve the ballistic coefficient over the traditional Spitzer bullet design. The 39 grain BlitzKing #1039 has a boat tail. All the BlitzKing bullets in 20 caliber are designed to handle high muzzle velocities from cartridges like the 204 Ruger, and can easily handle velocities from others like the 20 Tactical and 20 Vartarg. This bullet was designed to be the perfect length and stabilize in the 204 Ruger's original 1-12" twist barrel. For handguns, the BlitzKing bullet is especially effective in varmints and small game for the full range of centerfire cartridges in 20 caliber. They have outstanding accuracy, a flat trajectory and superb expansion in small animals even with the smaller-capacity cartridges chambered in shorter barrels. The 39 grain #1039 bullet is suitable for those smaller cartridges, like the 20 Vartarg that is essentially a necked down 221 Fireball. The #1039 was introduced in 2005.

    .22 Cal / 5.56mm 55 Gr. FMJBT

    , ,
For rifles, this 55 grain #1355 Full Metal Jacket Boat Tail bullet was designed specifically to duplicate the military M193 bullet, and it is intended for use in semi-automatic rifles, such as the AR-15, M16 and Ruger Mini 14. It features an exceptionally heavy full metal jacket with a cannelure properly located for crimping and positive feeding. This is an excellent bullet for hunting varmints and small game where pelts are to be preserved. It should be loaded to medium velocities for this purpose. In handguns of 22 caliber, this is a non-expanding bullet that will minimize damage to pelts as well as meat in small game. It is best used at medium handgun velocities to prevent tumbling upon impact. It is an ideal choice for the trapper or pelt hunter with a handgun in a 22 centerfire caliber. The #1355 was introduced in 1985.

.22 Cal 55 Gr. SBT GameKing

    , , ,
In rifles chambering 22 caliber cartridges of moderate to large powder capacity, this famous bullet is perhaps the most efficient 22 caliber bullet available for varmints at long range or targets. The spitzer boat tail design provides exceptional accuracy and a flat trajectory. The high ballistic coefficient of this bullet provides less sensitivity to crosswinds and vertical winds and greater retained velocity and energy downrange. It is an excellent choice for most 22 centerfire cartridges but is at its best in the 22-250, 220 Swift, and similar high-velocity cartridges. For target shooting purposes this 55 grain spitzer boat tail has been surpassed by the heavier MatchKing bullets in 22 caliber, but in many rifles it delivers match-grade accuracy. For handguns, because it has the Sierra high velocity construction, this bullet is too "hard" to be recommended for hunting applications. However, it features the famous Sierra accuracy and is certainly an excellent choice for long-range accuracy under all conditions. If a boat tail bullet with extremely high accuracy fits your needs for target shooting, then this bullet should be your choice. The #1365 was introduced in 1980.

Sierra's #1395 22cal 65gr SBT GameKing debuted in 2004 and has been a top seller from day one for 22cal rifle shooters that varmint and deer hunt with them. It has a tougher lead core than our BlitzKing bullets, and has a thick jacket that keeps it intact, even at 22-250 speeds. Because of the bullet length, it requires a 1-10" twist rate or faster to stabilize. As always, this bullet has the inherit accuracy built into it that Sierra is known for.

    , ,
In rifles, this 100 grain Spitzer bullet #1540 has a heavy, double-tapered jacket to ensure adequate penetration with reliable expansion on medium game. This bullet may be the correct choice for hunting large varmints as well as deer or antelope. It also may be the bullet of choice in some rifle's because its flat base construction enhances accuracy in that particular rifle. In handguns, the 100 grain #1540 Spitzer bullet is too "hard" for use on field game due to the moderate velocities from all but the largest wildcat cartridges. However, this bullet will deliver to outstanding accuracy in long-range target competition and high momentum downrange for silhouette competition from handgun barrels with standard twist rates. The #1540 was introduced in 1956.

In rifles, this 100 grain #1560 Spitzer Boat Tail bullet with a heavy, double-tapered jacket ensures adequate penetration with reliable expansion on medium game. It is the boat tail counterpart to the flatbase #1540 Pro-Hunter bullet, but when ranges exceed 300 yards, the #1560 bullet is the choice for best downrange performance. This bullet is exceptionally accurate, and it may be used in 6mm cartridges, such as the 243 Winchester, 6mm Remington and magnums. It also is a very fine bullet for larger varmints at long ranges. For handguns, the 100 grain #1560 Spitzer Boat Tail bullet is too "hard" for use in the field on game, because it will not expand adequately at the moderate velocities attainable from all cartridges except the largest wildcats. This bullet will perform to outstanding levels in long-range target or silhouette competition from barrels with standard twist rates.

This bullet is the best long-range hunting bullet in 6.5 mm caliber. Exceptional accuracy, excellent ballistic shape, and adequate weight for medium and heavy game make this a truly exceptional bullet. This bullet is at its best in country like the wide open western prairie where shots are long and conditions difficult. It has a flat trajectory, great ability to resist crosswinds and vertical winds, and high energy delivery downrange. The bullet performs very well from any 6.5 mm cartridge with medium to large powder capacity, but it is at its absolute best from magnum rifles with maximum hunting loads.

For rifles, this 150 grain #2115 Full Metal Jacket Boat Tail bullet is designed for semi-automatic types, and it functions flawlessly in the M14/M1A, M1 Garand and similar rifles. The cannelure is located to provide an overall length suitable for both the 308/7.62 NATO and the 30-06 cartridges. This 150 grain FMJBT bullet also is a good bullet at medium and low velocity for hunting game with valuable pelts to be preserved. In handguns, this 150 grain #2115 FMJBT bullet is ideally suited to the hunter who requires a non-deforming bullet to minimize pelt damage. Velocity should be kept low, and ranges must be correspondingly short to minimize damage to the pelt.

For rifles in 30 caliber, this bullet was designed for medium- to long-range hunting with cartridges having medium to large case capacities for powder. These bullets often display match grade accuracy from accurate hunting rifles. The famous Sierra Spitzer Boat Tail shape assures flat trajectory, excellent resistance to crosswinds and vertical winds, and maximum energy delivery to the target. Good penetration and expansion are characteristic of these bullets even at the reduced impact velocities at long range. With the weight range available, at least one of these bullets will prove ideal for almost any 30 caliber cartridge. The 150 grain #2125 bullet is best suited to medium game at all velocity levels. In handguns chambering 30 caliber cartridges, prior to the introduction of the Remington Model XP-100 (and similar handgun designs) utilizing larger rifle cartridges, the usefulness of these bullets was limited. Now, these bullets have a very definite niche as superbly accurate hunting bullets. Previously considered "too hard" for expansion, they perform well at the 2500 fps muzzle velocities achievable in the 308 Winchester and larger cartridges. Ease of loading and precise concentricity contributes to their excellent accuracy. Sierra's Spitzer Boat Tail design assures flat trajectory and high energy delivery downrange with low sensitivity to crosswinds and vertical winds. These bullets are suitable for varmints through large game at all ranges a prudent handgunner would normally attempt.

The 150 grain #2130 has the Sierra's unique double-tapered hunting jacket that has been field proven under all conceivable conditions. The 150 grain #2130 bullet is best suited to medium game. This bullet is extremely accurate, providing an undeniable edge in the game fields. Reliable expansion and deep penetration blended with Sierra's classic Spitzer flatbase profile makes these the bullets of choice with many 30 caliber riflemen. For handguns, Sierra's Pro-Hunter design is generally considered too "hard" for all but the most powerful of the 30 caliber handgun cartridges. Handguns chambered for the 308 Winchester cartridge or cartridges of similar size can use these bullets over maximum hunting loads at short range. Due to their flat base design, Pro-Hunter bullets are an excellent choice for a cartridge with limited powder capacity and a short neck, because these bullets intrude into the powder space less than a boat tail.
