.243 Cal 110 Gr. HPBT MatchKing

    , ,
Shooters around the world will appreciate the accuracy and extreme long range performance of our new 6mm 110 grain HPBT (#1575). A sleek 27 caliber elongated ogive and a final meplat reducing operation (pointing) provide an increased ballistic coefficient for optimal wind resistance and velocity retention. To ensure precise bullet to bore alignment, a unique bearing surface to ogive junction uses the same 1.5 degree angle commonly found in many match rifle chamber throats. While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications. Although MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are commonly used for varmint hunting, their design will not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities on varmints compared to their lightly jacketed Hornet, Blitz or Varminter counterparts. The #1575 was introduced in December 2016. This bullet requires a barrel twist rate of 1x7” or faster.

    .243 Cal 95 Gr. TMK

    , ,
Sierra has enhanced a segment of the MatchKing line by adding the acetal resin tip, thus crowning the Tipped MatchKing (TMK) bullet line. The major advantage of adding a tip to the bullet is the reduction of drag, producing a more favorable ballistic coefficient. Another benefit is reliable feeding in magazine fed firearms. While they are recognized around the world for record-setting accuracy, MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are not recommended for most hunting applications. Although MatchKing® and Tipped MatchKing® bullets are commonly used for varmint hunting, their design will not provide the same reliable explosive expansion at equivalent velocities in varmints compared to their lightly jacketed Hornet, Blitz or Varminter counterparts. The #7295 was introduced in November 2015. This bullet requires a barrel twist rate of 1x9” or faster.

38 Cal 180 Gr. FPJ Tournament Master

    , ,
These bullets were designed and introduced for Handgun Metallic Silhouette. This competition, which requires toppling heavy steel targets. A heavy bullet is necessary to provide the momentum required to knock these targets over. The 180 grain #8370 Full Profile Jacket bullet (FPJ) was introduced in 1984 specifically for the 357 Maximum cartridge and the Handgun Silhouette game. This high-pressure cartridge dictated a heavy bullet for maximum performance as well as superb accuracy. It is an extremely accurate bullet in the 357 Maximum as well as the 38 Special or 357 Magnum. The cannelure is located to give the proper overall length and crimp for all revolvers chambering these cartridges. These bullets are non-expanding types, but this 180 grain #8370 FPJ bullet has been used very successfully in the field for game such as bear and wild boar where deep penetration is required. These bullets are suitable for all cartridges from 38 Special to 35 Remington in revolvers, single shot pistols and rifles.

    , ,
In rifles, this 100 grain Spitzer bullet #1540 has a heavy, double-tapered jacket to ensure adequate penetration with reliable expansion on medium game. This bullet may be the correct choice for hunting large varmints as well as deer or antelope. In handguns, the 100 grain #1540 Spitzer bullet is too "hard" for use on field game due to the moderate velocities from all but the largest wildcat cartridges. However, this bullet will deliver to outstanding accuracy in long-range target competition and high momentum downrange for silhouette competition from handgun barrels with standard twist rates. The #1540 was introduced in 1956.

    , ,
In rifles, this 100 grain #1560 Spitzer Boat Tail bullet with a heavy, double-tapered jacket ensures adequate penetration with reliable expansion on medium game. It is the boat tail counterpart to the flatbase #1540 Pro-Hunter bullet, but when ranges exceed 300 yards, the #1560 bullet is the choice for best downrange performance. This bullet is exceptionally accurate, and it may be used in 6mm cartridges, such as the 243 Winchester, 6mm Remington and magnums. It also is a very fine bullet for larger varmints at long ranges. For handguns, the 100 grain #1560 Spitzer Boat Tail bullet is too "hard" for use in the field on game, because it will not expand adequately at the moderate velocities attainable from all cartridges except the largest wildcats. This bullet will perform to outstanding levels in long-range target or silhouette competition from barrels with standard twist rates.

    303 Cal 150 Gr. SPT Pro-Hunter

    , , ,
These bullets utilize the nominal 30 caliber dimensions common to the martial arms of several foreign entities. Most of these have found their way to the United States as either war trophies or were imported as military surplus in recent years. These include the British Lee-Enfields, the late-war Japanese Arisakas, the Russian Moisin-Nagants, SKS and AK-47s and their various clones from former Soviet bloc countries. The cartridges associated with these weapons are the 303 British, the 7.7mm Arisaka, the 7.62x54R and, of course, the ubiquitous 7.62x39mm. Most of these guns use a .311" diameter projectile but it is prudent to slug the bore if any doubt exists. Given the wartime production conditions and occasionally questionable pedigrees of some of these rifles, this procedure is a worthwhile investment. Many of these rifles are capable of delivering decent accuracy and are powerful enough to serve for use on big game. This bullet adds some much needed versatility to these often overlooked but very capable cartridges for hunting. Positive feed characteristics are required for all semi-automatic rifles using the 7.62x39mm cartridge, and Sierra's profiled ogive point shape provides flawless functioning. The 150 grain #2300 has Sierra's unique double taper heavy jacket and Spitzer profile. They have excellent accuracy, together with deep penetration and excellent expansion on medium and large game. The Spitzer shape provides a flat trajectory and high energy delivered downrange. These bullets are suitable for all of the larger .311 inch diameter service cartridges, such as the 303 British, 7.7mm Arisaka and 7.65mm Mauser.
